Software Support Engineer, Almaty

Skills and experience required:

  • Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering / Electrical Engineering / Software Engineering or related fields
  • Working experience with leading-edge technologies in the mining industry
  • Experience with Linux OS, relational databases (PostgreSQL, Microsoft SQL Server)
  • Experience with shell scripting and scripting languages (Perl, Python, etc.)
  • Experience with wireless networks, switches and routing would be an advantage
  • Knowledge of C++ or Objective-C programming languages
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work proactively with minimal supervision
  • Keen interest in providing a superior level of customer service and support to our clients
  • Ability to work effectively in a local and global team environment

Responsibilities:

  • Support and maintenance of software deployed at remote customers mining sites
  • Responsibility for customer issues and problems, investigation and resolution of issues and performance monitoring
  • Work collaboratively with the Services team and the Product Development team to assist in the deployment of systems, in capturing and identifying information about system issues (defects) when escalation is required
  • Reporting and documentation requirements as required
  • Providing advice or training to users, by devising corrections (permanent or temporary) for faults, making general or site-specific modifications, updating documentation, manipulating data, or defining enhancements
  • Attending site and company meetings in person or remotely
  • Be part of a 24/7 on call support roster to provide continuous support to customer sites
  • Compliance with the Workplace Health and Safety policies and procedures, participation in audits and compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and oneself and the safety of others
